Triumph Sports Six Club International Weekend Stafford 2008

We all looked forward to this one. The distance was daunting but they are Triumphs!!! John & Joan (Herald) and Glenn (Spit.), joined up with Sharon and Steve in their Spitfires at our usual lay-by outside Barnstaple. The weather was good all day. At Junction 27 we rendezvoused with Sue & John (Herald) from South Devon and after coffee and a briefing we set off up the M5 in a 5 car convoy.

All cars behaved well and after other service stops, we all arrived safely at the Show Ground. 205 miles!! WOW. Steve, Sharon and Glenn camped but the senior group (or group of Seniors) had accommodation booked at a farmhouse B&B within walking distance of the Event. A good find which we will repeat next year.

Video Horse Racing with Tote betting was the first nights entertainment in a nice big Concert Room on site. Really good social gathering with strangers and friends from other areas. Some of us did well on the Tote.

The Halls were full of classy machines and it had a good feel to it. Sue & John had their place booked with Rob of the Early Heralds Register. John & Joan's 948 was also added, which gave extra interest (and polishing too!). The time just flew by. Plenty of auto jumble and parts. The weather changed in the evening, but we all piled in for a short trip to a good Pub Restaurant.

On our return, some of us visited the Beach Party event in another Hall on the site. Good spectator sport watching others in ridiculous costumes. Great fun. We finished the evening in the Concert Room and partook of roast pork butties from the hog roast outside.

Sunday saw Sharon leaving alone to be back for work on Monday. She was a brave girl and she had to be relayed home after a breakdown (involving her battery blowing up from the alternator overcharging it)! We continued our viewing for the rest of the day until the prize-giving. We returned to the same Pub with Sue & John for the last nights meal and banter.

Monday saw only 3 cars returning as Sue & John went home via Wales. Steve had the only problems with his windscreen wipers so he pushed on after our service stop, but all got home safely. The 948 gave great service with nearly 470 miles clocked and is still ready for the next outing! (fingers crossed)
