The weather, only days before was atrocious, so undercover contingency plans were made in the farmyard in case the field did not drain or it continued to rain. Come the day, Dave's field was usable and the sun came out to crown our efforts. Our concern over the ground and repairs to Glenn's and Steve's Spitfires meant that only a few of the club cars were out but the food arrangements came together nicely and the BBQ grill finished everything off a treat, so that all 14 of us had a good social event. Joan brought her friend Trish and Mike & Julia in the MG1100. John came with Glenn in the Herald. Sharon brought her Spitfire. George & Edith came in their Volvo and Peter & Ouna their modern estate. Steve, Kay and John Wilkinson only had to walk across the road. This was very successful due to joint effort and we hope to repeat it next year. Come if you can! Afterwards, John and Joan's party went over to Bideford to join the North Devon Sports and Classic Car Club's line-up on the Quay prior to the evening Carnival procession held in perfect weather. |
