We all linked up as usual just outside Barnstaple and travelled in procession the 10 miles or so to South Molton Vintage Rally Rally Club's show ground off the old A361 just past South Molton. On the Saturday Glenn and Steve took their Spitfires, John and Joan their Herald. Peter, his Roadster and Sharon took her Beetle.
On the Sunday we made our entrance as 3 Spitfires (Steve, Glenn and now Sharon), TR7 (Peter), Toledo (Joan), Herald (John), and Mini (George and Edith).
The weather was great both days and the event had a good feel about it. Dave Pateman was also there in his Triumph 2000. As well as a TSSC member who was rebuilding his Spitfire who is keen to get involved once his car is finished.
We paraded both days. The commentator was funny in his lack of any car sense, introducing Joan as a Triumph Marina! and all 3 Spits as Sprites even when corrected several times (on BOTH days).
When we finally left, we all went to Aller Cross Restaurant to meet up with Dave & Kay to enjoy a fine Carvery (except one, who had his usual Steak and Kidney Pie!).
We split for the home run; Sharon and family to Barnstaple and Glen, Steve and Peter enjoyed a chase up the Bray Valley with John and Joan following at a more sedate pace. Every one got home safely and it was a memorable weekend all round.
