Joint North Devon and Somerset visit to Hestercombe Gardens 2008

The run to Hestercombe Gardens was arranged to meet up with some of the Somerset Area TSSC. John & Joan (Herald) and Glenn (Spitfire) met Sharon & Steve (Spitfire) and George & Edith (Mini) at Blackmoor Gate and we took our usual route over our grand Exmoor for our now obligatory coffee stop at Exford.

The weather was good, providing a superb run. We found our way through the outskirts of Taunton to Hestercombe Gardens. We were early and finally the Somerset Area's 10 or so cars cruised in to line up with us. Plenty of social and pseudo technical chat with Phil Kinsella (A.O.) and other members that we had seen at other meets. Bob from Stafford was there so we are widening our 'network'. Glenn swopt details with the owner of of a similar car to his, right down to the colour!

We promenaded the beautiful formal gardens. The Orangery was set up for a wedding and looked splendid. We 'took' tea in the cleverly converted stables before breaking for home. We used the old A361 back through Wiveliscombe/Bampton to intercept the new A361 and on to Aller Cross for our usual Carvary, which did not disappoint.

We finally split with John & Joan doing the Bray Valley route and the others sticking to the Link. Glenn encountered 'noises' close to home and may have serious transmission problems.

UPDATE: Glenn has since replaced the Rear Axle Differential and the Universal Joints. Bad luck mate but a great learning curve!
