We all met up at the layby (the one where the fast food van is) just outside Bishop's Tawton, North Devon. There were 11 people, 7 cars and two dogs! Glenn brought his 1500 Spitfire; Steve W, his GT6 Mk3; Peter, Ouna and Elliot came in the Roadster; Dave, Kay and Fudge came in Dave's Austin A35; Sharon and Edith came in George's Mini; Chris came in his Honda Prelude and John and Joan came in Joan's MG1100. We drove from there to Quince Honey Farm and had morning coffee (well, we had done about 8 miles!). On we went to Morrisons' Supermarket in Tiverton where we did a little shopping, had a few sandwiches and it gave Dave a good excuse to get some chips! We then went across to Blackcat via the Exe Valley and on to Wheddon Cross. From Wheddon Cross, we went across Exmoor to The Old Station Inn where we had a great meal. A big thanks to Dave Wilkinson, who was our pathfinder for the day in his super A35 and who also planned and recce'd the route. A great day for us all in which we covered 88 miles. |
