Sharon and I (Steve) were the only members to travel down from North Devon. We left about 1.30pm on the Friday and the weather conditions were awful, torrential rain and gusty winds. Sharon's Spitfire's hood was leaking so badly, she was having to use a squeegee on the inside! It turns out the hood was not clamped down fully but we didn't realise this until the Sunday. We got there and put the tent up, getting soaked through in the process. The Saturday dawned bright and sunny and we were able to dry out, then we did the walk (well it was more of a route march!) around the bay at Fowey, catching the passenger ferry and then the car ferry. Had a lovely day chatting to various people and settled down for a nice bbq. On the Sunday, everyone packed up, then we lined the cars up for photos. We then proceeded in convoy to a pub for a fantastic Sunday dinner. We travelled back via Bodmin and Camelford on some lovely quiet roads until hitting the Atlantic Highway. A fantastic weekend, and hopefully one that the North Devon crew will go to next year (in larger numbers). |
